A Warm Welcome to Sambrook House

Walk into Sambrook House and you’ll be impressed by the warmth of the welcome…

Sambrook House is situated in the centre of the picturesque village of Sambrook, which is about 5 miles north of Newport and within easy travelling from Telford, Market Drayton and Stafford.

Established in 1985, the home is built around the what was once the village house. It has been extensively refurbished and extended combining rustic charm with hotel-like accommodation. It is privately owned and is registered for 28 elderly residents.

Sambrook House is registered for 28 elderly residents. It comprises 3 double bedrooms, 9 single bedrooms and 13 single bedrooms with en-suite facilities. It also has a large conservatory, 2 lounges, a dining room and gardens. There is free Wi-Fi throughout the building for those who wish to use the Internet or keep in touch by email or simply to surf!

Our aim at Sambrook House is to create a warm, homely and comfortable environment in which to live. A choice of food is offered at all meal times and is prepared daily from fresh produce. For residents who wish to participate, regular entertainments and outings are organised. We never forget that this is our residents’ home and so encourage individuality and freedom of choice. Relatives are always welcome and encouraged to get involved in the activities taking place in the home.

A Brief History

Sambrook House was once the village school and above there are a few historic photographs that show this – in one of them the school bell is clear and on another you can clearly see tending a vegetable garden and the date 1936. There are still people in the village that went to Sambrook House when it was a school as it was sold off as a dwelling in 1973.

Included in my historic documentation are two sales particulars, one dated 23rd February 1973, when ‘Sambrook School House and School’ was sold at public auction, and the second one is believed to be around 1983, just before its conversion to a care home in 1985. Both of them have some pen and pencil marks made presumably by the purchaser. If I find out more about the history of this wonderful building then I shall add it to the page…

Here’s what some of our clients think

When I came to Sambrook House I was in generally low spirit and with a very poor appetite.

Thanks to the excellent, devoted, teams of Carers and superb Kitchen Staff, I was very rapidly restored to my normal self. We (my family and I) are happy that I am safely housed, both physically and psychologically, in what is a very pleasant place to live.

Mr Ron Roberts, Sambrook House Resident and Chairman of the Resident’s Committee
I have been a resident in Sambrook House for 18 months during which time I have been treated with respect by all staff. They are helpful, caring and kind. The meals are varied and cooked fresh every day. I feel safe here.

My Mum, Vera, lives in Sambrook House and is very happy there. All the people looking after her are true carers. The food is excellent, there are a variety of activities and a genuine feeling of ‘home’
